What I know for sure is that you never know. Staying home, wearing masks in public, and online school was nowhere in my thoughts as I dreamed about what my future was going to look like just a year ago. Approaching 50 in the midst of a pandemic has me even more convinced that I cannot afford to take my days on this earth for granted. If I have learned anything during this time, it is that I must be intentional about living and not merely existing.
In my quest to live more, I have been thinking about things that I kept promising myself I would do pre-covid that I never got around to doing. Here are three of those things! I am putting them out in the universe with the intention of following through as soon as possible.
See Misty Copeland dance in a ballet.
Who doesn’t want to see Misty Copeland in a ballet? Here is a woman of color that did not begin dancing until the age of 13 and still rose to the top of her game. Copeland became the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer in American Ballet Theater’s 75-year history. I cannot help but feel a strong sense of pride as Misty Copeland claims her place in the world of ballet.
See the 5 Browns play in concert.
I am completely in awe of these talented siblings. After seeing their documentary while I was in New York a couple of years ago, I am even more in awe. If you have not seen their documentary, you really should check it out.
Here is a video of these siblings playing together. Once you watch, you will understand why I am determined to see them in concert.
Attend oral arguments where Sonia Sotomayor is presiding.
The thought that a little girl from the Bronx could work so hard and eventually become a United States Supreme Court Justice is inspiring. After reading Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s book My Beloved World, I was determined to try to see her on the bench. Unfortunately there was always some scheduling issue. This is now back on my list of things to experience.

Are you determined to do more than merely exist? What are some things you want to experience when the opportunity presents itself?
Much Love,
Tonza
I’ll probably do the same thing when I get to be your age. Lol. That’s great that you set positive goals for yourself. Enjoy…
🤣🤣Thank you!
