At the beginning of the year, no one could have told me that in three months, life as we know it would be TOTALLY different. I would have looked at them sideways. Our “new normal” has made me grow a deep appreciation for the things that I did with ease before COVID-19. Something so simple as going to the grocery store has a “new normal.” Here are some of the things that I miss and hope to be back to doing in due time.
Tuesday Night Movies
As a lot of you may know, Tuesday nights are the cheap nights to go to the movies. If you didn’t know, now you do! So, I go to the movies pretty much every Tuesday, whether it be by myself or with one of my friends. I use this as my weekly stress reliever because I don’t have to think about the outside world for a couple of hours. Now I have to watch whatever I can on Netflix and Hulu, and I am running out of options.
Pre-COVID-19 I was not a fan of going to the mall. I know this might sound strange coming from a young lady, but online shopping is more of MY THING. Even though I’m not particularly eager to go to the mall to shop, it was a fun place to hang out with my friends. However, now that I can’t just go to the mall and freely browse through stores and the food court, I want to. I guess not being allowed to do something does make you want to do it even more.
Monthly Hair Appointments
I am a person who always has her hair done. I schedule my hair appointments at least three months out, so there is no problem with getting the style that I want when I want. Well, quarantine has forced me to do my own hair, which consists of me just twisting it every two weeks because it is a lot to manage. I think when this dies down, the hair salon will be my first stop out of my apartment.
Now this one might have some opposers, but from the perspective of a “broke college student,” this is a big one. When COVID-19 happened, my on-campus job was deemed non-essential, which left me jobless until things kind of go back to normal. How am I supposed to order all of my amazon packages now?!
If you know me, you know I love to eat. I used to go out to eat just about every day. I love going to restaurants and being catered to and not having to put any work into eating delicious food. I can’t wait for things to open back up so I can hear, “Can I start you off with something to drink?” It’s going to be a great day! However, I will say that quarantine has forced me to improve on my cooking skills, so that is a plus of not being able to go out to eat all the time.
What things did you take for granted Pre-COVID-19?
