This whole “social distancing” thing has not been that difficult for me! Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, my crazy work schedule (running from courthouse to courthouse while working on my writing and new business ventures) always made me excited about the possibility of a long, quiet weekend at home. When I learned that our courts were going to essentially be closed for 30 days in response to the coronavirus pandemic, I welcomed the opportunity to hibernate or practice “social distancing”. From all of the posts and comments I see on social media, “social distancing” is clearly not for everyone! However, at times like this, we all must act responsibly and do our part to keep our communities safe.
For the next couple of Fridays, I will be sharing “social distancing” activities that I enjoy. However, I do not intend for this to be a one-way dialogue. I am looking forward to getting some ideas from you all as well. Hopefully, the exchange of ideas will relieve some of the angst felt as we hunker down in our homes to avoid exposure to the coronavirus.
I am kicking off this “social distancing” activities series with nothing other than…PODCASTS! You should have known it was coming. 🙂 I really enjoy podcasts because I find them to be entertaining and informative. While, of course, I want you to tune into Vibin’ With Tonza every chance you get, there are some other podcasts that are definitely worth tuning into. Here are three that I am hooked on at the moment:
- Pretty Big Deal with Ashley Graham. I learned about this podcast in Health Magazine and boy am I glad I decided to check it out. Thanks to Pretty Big Deal I now know who YouTube sensation Liza Koshy is! I also learned about The Skimm and loved the interview with the founders so much that I subscribed to The Skimm newsletter and the podcast Skimm’d from The Couch. Hell, to be quite honest with you, I wasn’t really familiar with Ashley Graham until I started tuning into Pretty Big Deal. And, she is a Pretty Big Deal. Sometimes I feel like I live under a rock! LOL!
- Skimm’d from The Couch with Carly Zakin and Danielle Weisberg. I woke up from a nap yesterday and decided to check out Skimm’d from the Couch. Annie Lawless was the guest. Ironically, she thought she wanted to be a lawyer until she went to law school. She hated it so much that she quit and went on to become a millionaire as the co-founder of Suja Juice. She didn’t stop after Suja Juice though. Her passion for clean, non-toxic beauty products led to her new brainchild, Lawless Cosmetics. Seems like pursuing her passion paid off big time!
- Oprah Winfrey Super Soul Conversations. On this podcast, Oprah is having some super conversations with some super people. The two guest interviews that resonate the most with me right now are Tracee Ellis Ross and Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga’s transparency about her struggles with mental illness was mind-blowing. I applaud her for being so candid and open about her ongoing journey with keeping herself well mentally while being one of the biggest superstars we have known. Tracee Ellis Ross is just the bomb, plain and simple. She is the poster woman for self-love and happiness.
So, there you go! I have shared three podcasts that are worth tuning into! Now it’s your turn. What are your “social distancing” activities? No holding back.
Much Love,
Tonza
And very productive of you to do this…😊
Thank you! I hope you are staying safe and enjoying this downtime as much as I am. 🙂
