One of the many phrases we often hear these days is “protect your energy”. Seeing that as some great advice, I decided to visit an energy healer and literally protect my energy.
I was driving through the town of Hillsborough when I came across the Cedar Walk Wellness Center. It caught my eye because I thought about trying acupuncture, and I saw that they offered acupuncture. When I got home, I decided to check out their website. Instead of acupuncture, I zoomed in on energy healing.

I thought back to the Goop Lab episode that explored energy healing with energy practitioner John Amaral. I remember being quite fascinated with what I was watching. So, needless to say, when I signed up for the 1-hour Reiki session with Reiki Master Beth Vickers, I thought for sure my body would be twitching and moving all over the massage table as my chakras and meridians were realigned. Not quite! My experience was quite the opposite. It was incredibly calming.
Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient using touch to activate the patient’s body’s natural healing processes and restore physical and emotional well-being.
For 1 hour, I relaxed on the massage table while Beth balanced my chakras and meridians and moved my stagnant energy. When she was done, I just wanted to relax for another hour or so on the table before leaving. As I was driving home, I felt completely relaxed and centered. I am definitely looking forward to my next Reiki session and learning more about energy healing.
For those that are open to the idea of alternative healing practices I would highly recommend a reiki session. If you can’t find time to go to a reiki session, no worries.
