This is my body!
The fact that one attempts to use the government to come in and dictate what I do with it makes me mad as hell. You had absolutely nothing to do with my creation, so why would you believe that you should be given the awesome privilege of telling me what to do with my body?
In 2018 women should not have to fear that Roe v. Wade will be dismantled, thereby taking away their right to decide whether or not they are equipped to raise a child.
Just like every person is not qualified to be a teacher, doctor, lawyer, or police officer, every woman is not qualified to be a mother. So, why should our government have the ability to force motherhood upon anyone who knows they are not able to do the job.
Before you give me that rhetoric about a woman thrusting motherhood upon herself by making the decision to have sexual intercourse, STOP!
The desire to have sex is natural, plain and simple. To think that you can force a woman into a life of celibacy unless she is seeking to procreate is absolutely insane. Not to mention many women seeking abortions did not become impregnated because they were running around being sexually irresponsible.
And why is it that pro-life rhetoric stops after the birth of the child? Doesn’t life continue after birth?
Explain to me how forcing a child into a world of poverty, where they are raised in conditions that many of us would not be able to bear for twenty-four hours, is advocating for life. A hungry child is suffering. A cold child is suffering. A child without adequate shelter is suffering. A child whose mother or father lacks the ability to nurture is suffering. Where is the legislation that is centered around the quality of life for these suffering children? Oh, let me guess, this is the point where the governmental powers that be fall back on their minimal government intrusion rhetoric.
And, for all of the “poor”pro-lifers that believe they have something in common with the “rich” pro-lifers …don’t get it twisted. Our country’s success is dependent upon the oppression of people.
Encouraging one to bring a life into this world that they cannot afford to adequately feed, or care for, will guarantee a class of people that will continue to make the rich richer. So, think long and hard before embracing that rhetoric spewed by your rich brethren, and pay attention to what is happening around you. Why do you think dismantling Planned Parenthood is at the forefront of the government’s agenda? Because Planned Parenthood exists to give poor people options that wealthier people will always have at their disposal.
At 19, I bought my first daughter into this world because I chose to do so. At 19, I also volunteered many hours at abortion clinics, helping ensure that women could safely enter because they chose to do so.
I refuse to ever be okay with the government, or anyone else for that matter, telling me, or any other woman, what we can do with our bodies.
Much love,
Tonza
