Prelude to a Kiss II (The Flowers)

“Is there something you want to tell me?” She asked as I walked into the building.

Puzzled, I stared at my assistant as she led me upstairs to my office where three beautiful flower arrangements sat on my desk. With a huge smile glued on my face, I immediately asked, “Are these for me?”

To which my assistant responded, “Yes.”

“Are you sure?” I asked.

“Yes ma’am, the florist dropped them off for you a little while ago. Now, is there something you want to tell me?” She inquired again, as she chuckled at my stunned expression.

Flabbergasted, I reached for the envelope that was safely attached to one of the arrangements. Sliding the card out, I quickly scanned the message, searching for the identify of the person responsible for this extremely generous act of kindness.  Much to my chagrin, the card simply read-

“This is a small gesture that will hopefully bring more sunshine into your day.” From: A person who cares.

Going through my mental rolodex, sadly enough, I was 99% sure that these flowers were not from anyone that had, or was, occupying my time. So, while I could safely eliminate people, I was not able to come up with any ideas as to who the generous donor was. Hoping that this person would eventually reveal himself, I gathered my beautiful flowers and headed home with a glow in my heart. Mission accomplished! These flowers definitely bought more sunshine into my day.

The following day, another arrangement of flowers, equally as beautiful as the one’s I received the day before, were delivered to my office.  Once again, the donor provided no information that would allow me to show my gratitude for such generosity. Respecting his obvious desire to remain anonymous, I simply enjoyed the beauty of the act until the “Big Panty Crew” suggested I be a little more diligent about determining the identity of the donor. Hitting brick wall after brick wall, and, feeling a sense of calm in my spirit, I eventually returned to my earlier decision to respect this individuals anonymity…

P.S. As you read this series, Prelude to a Kiss, please keep in mind that I am one of those women that truly feels special when I receive flowers. The person that sent all of these beautiful flowers had no idea that I loved receiving flowers at the time that he decided to “bring more sunshine to my day”.

Perfectly Imperfect but VERY PROUD WOMAN, MOM, LAWYER, and AUTHOR, but most importantly...LIFE LOVER! I laugh loud, I work hard, I play hard, I am adventurous, I am curious, I am driven, I have moments of deep insecurity, I am loving, I am vulnerable, I am explosive (not one of my finer qualities), I dance around my house alone, I am an awful perfectionist which makes my insecurity worse, I sing out loud in my car without any concern for whose watching, I have trust issues, I do not live through my children, I no longer try to force my children into the mold that I created so that I could feel validated as a mother, I am a risk-taker, I am guarded in my personal life, I am kind, I am grateful. I am so excited about the rest of my life!

  1. This is Fun! Getting flowers delivered to you from an anonymous admirer makes your ‘grin’ bigger, happier & wider. The surprise in ‘not knowing’ keeps the edge going. Of course, after two to three weeks, I would want to know my secret beau/admirer. Hurry on September 25th!
