Aspen Ideas Festival

The 2020 Aspen Ideas Festival was amazing. Although it was my first time attending, it definitely will not be my last. The Festival is full of thought leaders and great conversation about a wide array of subjects. So you know I was in “hog heaven” as they say here in the south.

Thanks to COVID-19, I did not have to worry about securing a hotel and airline ticket to attend this event. Everything was simply a click away. So, for those wishing to attend the Aspen Ideas Festival, it is not too late. It is still just a click away! For those interested in the conversations that pulled me in, here you go.

After hearing her passionate words to Atlanta citizens during the riots following George Floyd’s death, I have been in awe of Keisha Lance Bottoms, the Mayor of Atlanta.

She is a very thoughtful leader who leans on our history and her ancestry to guide her as she leads. Not to mention she is a black woman, black mother, and black lawyer on a mission to impact the world through public service and leadership. Oh, and did I mention she graduated from Georgia State University College of Law like me? What more do you need to make you want to check out her conversation with the one and only Angela Rye?

Stacey Abrams is a “beast”! She was the first African-American female major-party gubernatorial nominee in the United States.

I just knew she was going to go on to be Georgia’s First African-American Female Governor. I was making my plans to travel to Atlanta and be amongst those celebrating this historical event. Unfortunately, due to some questionable practices, she did not win. Despite her loss, Stacey Abrams is still committed to the advancement of the citizens of the United States. Fair Fight, one of the organizations she founded, brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in other voter education programs and communications.

I knew I had to listen to Abrams Aspen Ideas Conversation. Of course, she did not disappoint, but I was pleasantly surprised to be introduced to Brittany Packnett Cunnigham. You should really tune in to check out Brittany Packnett Cunningham. Her energy is contagious!

Maybe in 2021 we can all fly to Aspen together!

Much Love,

Perfectly Imperfect but VERY PROUD WOMAN, MOM, LAWYER, and AUTHOR, but most importantly...LIFE LOVER! I laugh loud, I work hard, I play hard, I am adventurous, I am curious, I am driven, I have moments of deep insecurity, I am loving, I am vulnerable, I am explosive (not one of my finer qualities), I dance around my house alone, I am an awful perfectionist which makes my insecurity worse, I sing out loud in my car without any concern for whose watching, I have trust issues, I do not live through my children, I no longer try to force my children into the mold that I created so that I could feel validated as a mother, I am a risk-taker, I am guarded in my personal life, I am kind, I am grateful. I am so excited about the rest of my life!
