Asheville, North Carolina Here I Come: Self-Love Anniversary Travel Adventures

Asheville North Carolina

I am super excited! I finally made a decision about my self-love anniversary celebration! I will be meeting my cousin for a weekend with our young kiddos in Asheville, North Carolina. I am still hesitant to hop on a plane and travel too far right now so Asheville, only 3 hours by car, is the perfect place to celebrate.

I have started putting our itinerary together and wanted to share it with you all. Having you be a part of my first self-love anniversary is super important to me!

Biltmore Estate

Biltmore House

I am excited to take Gabby to tour the Biltmore House. Completed in 1895 by George Vanderbilt, the home contains over four acres of floor space, including 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, and 65 fireplaces.

I last visited the home over 15 years ago with my two oldest girls and friends, and it was absolutely breathtaking. After visiting Windsor Castle, the Vatican, and other historical landmarks around the country, it is quite fascinating to me that we have the Biltmore Estate right here in North Carolina. It definitely gives all of these other sites a run for the money, and I don’t have travel across the world to see it.

The Block

When I visited Asheville many years ago, I had no idea The Block existed. It seems there has been a resurgence of interest in this community that was once the hub for African-American residents of Asheville. I am looking forward to exploring this area and learning more about African-American history in Asheville.

Benne on Eagle

Benne on Eagle

I wanted to have my self-love celebratory dinner at a special place! In fact, reading about the Chef De Cuisine, Ashleigh Shanti, at Benne on Eagle and The Block’s history is what made me choose Asheville.

Benne on Eagle, which celebrates the rich African-American culinary traditions that once existed, is located on Eagle Street (go figure!) in the Block neighborhood.

ziplining

Ziplining

While I would love to kick back and relax at a spa, I know our little ones would rather be out ziplining. So, ziplining it will be. To be honest, I am actually kind of looking forward to ziplining again. The last time I went ziplining, my middle daughter and nephew laughed at me as I hugged the trees while moving from course to course. I will probably hug the trees again! But, oh well!

I hope things will be better and I will be comfortable flying in January when it is time for me to celebrate the big 50! In the meantime, October can’t get here fast enough.

I promise to share pics from our Asheville adventures! All of you Asheville lovers, please tell me your favorite place to stay, eat, hang out. I am still working on my itinerary and would love to check out some of your favorite spots.

Much Love,

Tonza

Perfectly Imperfect but VERY PROUD WOMAN, MOM, LAWYER, and AUTHOR, but most importantly...LIFE LOVER! I laugh loud, I work hard, I play hard, I am adventurous, I am curious, I am driven, I have moments of deep insecurity, I am loving, I am vulnerable, I am explosive (not one of my finer qualities), I dance around my house alone, I am an awful perfectionist which makes my insecurity worse, I sing out loud in my car without any concern for whose watching, I have trust issues, I do not live through my children, I no longer try to force my children into the mold that I created so that I could feel validated as a mother, I am a risk-taker, I am guarded in my personal life, I am kind, I am grateful. I am so excited about the rest of my life!
