And Then She Was Gone: Meet David

I hope you enjoyed your introduction to Josiah yesterday! Today I would like to introduce you to David so here you go.

While Ariana was at the table chatting it up, the waitress walked over and presented Ariana with another lemon drop martini. Confused, Ariana began to explain to the waitress that she hadn’t ordered another drink, when the waitress interrupted and said it was compliments of Mr. David McDuffie. Having no clue who Mr. David McDuffie was, Ariana began looking around the room, searching for the gentleman who took the time to figure out what her favorite drink was. Eventually, she spotted “Brad Pitt” seated at the bar, staring directly at her. To show her appreciation, Ariana smiled, held her drink up, and then resumed her conversation with her colleagues as they chided her about the handsome man who had clearly taken a liking to her.

After she finished chatting and drinking her martini, Ariana returned to the dance floor, this time alone…

Soon after the second song began to play, Ariana sensed someone standing behind her. She turned around to see the eyes of the handsome man who had asked her to dance earlier. With the music blaring, she had to lean in close as he held his hand out and introduced himself. Smiling, this time she agreed to dance with him. It was the least she could do since he bought her a martini, even after she refused to dance with him the first time. Before she knew it, she and “Brad Pitt” had danced through four songs, and he looked like he was just beginning. Needing a break, Ariana shook his hand, thanking him, and headed to the bar in search of water. After chatting with Tom and some of their friends from work for another fifteen to twenty minutes, Ariana decided she had partied enough for the night. She gave Tom a big hug, made plans to get the kids together for a picnic in the park the following day, and then headed to the coat check to retrieve her coat and head home. Hoping to get her phone number, David McDuffie headed over to the coat check area where Ariana stood.

“Are you leaving already?” he asked.

“Yes. I am exhausted. Thank you again for the drink. That was very nice of you.” She replied.

“It was my pleasure.”

“I am pretty sure I have never seen you before; what are you doing in this neck of the woods?” Ariana asked.

“I’m one of the engineers working on rebuilding the bridge.”

“Oh.” Holding out her hand, Ariana said, “Well, Mr. David McDuffie, it was a pleasure meeting you. Thank you for dancing with me. Have a wonderful night.”

As he helped Ariana slide her coat on, David asked, “You don’t honestly believe that a gentleman like me is going to allow you to walk to your car alone, do you?”

So, there you go! You have been introduced to David. What do you think? Is he a keeper?

Much Love,

  1. David is fine and as smooth as silk. He is also an engineer; a career man who is currently employed. The first impression is good. Now, as a reader, I am anxious to discover if David has depth and is the full package. What motivates him; what is his intent?
