For the past couple of weeks, I have been consuming so much information about the transformation that is taking place around the country.
Like many of you, I am so inspired and hopeful that we will finally be able to take a quantum leap in the fight against systemic racism, injustice, and inequality. If you are anything like me when you get inspired, you tend to overdo it and stretch yourself too thin, which makes you practically useless. This time was no different for me. I was spiraling out of control, taking in all of this information about nationwide organizations leading the fight against systemic racism, injustice, and inequality. I was also putting myself in the “poor house”, as the old folks used to say, because every time I read about an organization that seemed to be actively engaging in the war against injustice and inequality, I would make a small donation. Small donations add up! 🙁
So that you do not end up like me I have decided to share 5 organizations that stood out for the work that they are doing in the fight against systemic racism, injustice and inequality. 4 of the 5 organizations were in existence prior to May 25, 2020, the day that George Floyd was murdered. Here you go:

Change begins with the stories we tell each other about the police and Black people.
POOR PEOPLE’S CAMPAIGN
THE MORAL AGENDA OF THE POOR PEOPLE’S CAMPAIGN
Over the past few years, the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has connected with communities across this nation to learn from the struggles being waged. We have met with tens of thousands of people, witnessing the strength of their moral courage in trying times. We have gathered testimonies from hundreds of poor people and we have chronicled their demands for a better society. The following moral agenda is drawn from this deep engagement and commitment to these struggles of the poor and dispossessed. It is also grounded in an empirical assessment of how we have come to this point today. The Souls of Poor Folk: Auditing America report reveals how the evils of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, and the war economy and militarism are persistent, pervasive, and perpetuated by a distorted moral narrative that must be challenged.
We must stop the attention violence that refuses to see these injustices and acknowledge the human and economic costs of inequality. We believe that when decent people see the faces and facts that the Souls of Poor Folk Audit presents, they will be moved deeply in their conscience to change things. When confronted with the undeniable truth of unconscionable cruelty to our fellow human beings, we must join the ranks of those who are determined not to rest until justice and equality are a reality for all.
So, there is my list! You know I am expecting you to share yours 🙂
Much Love,
